STMicroelectronics’ Q2 loss was $152m on sales of $2.05 billion for a gross margin of 32.8%

it was the seventh successive quarter of loss while revenue fell 4.8% and is expected to be flat in Q3.

Nonetheless, ST is investing $1.71 billion in the Nano2017 R&D programme with the French government contributing $788 million.

The cost of exiting ST-Ericsson is likely to be $300-$350 million.

Free cash flow was negative $134 million mainly attributable to ST-E costs. In Q1 it was negative $65million.

ST’s net cash position fell to $954 million down from $1.1 billion at the end of March.

At its current share price ST is valued at $9 billion.
